Designed to provide education and awareness that encourages private sector employers to hire our nation’s veterans and benefit from their talent. These programs are currently under development.

During the development phase, ConnectVETS is seeking companies that actively hire veterans today, to understand what in their experience has worked and where there is room for improvement. We are seeking feedback from these organizations about such issues as:

• Which specific skills tend to be most valuable among veterans
• Which military training and education programs are most relevant to each industry
• How to best match veterans to open positions across levels and functional areas

ConnectVETS will incorporate this learning into the education programs we develop for those organizations that do not hire veterans today, but are open to doing so and have positions to fill. We will identify these companies via direct solicitation and online outreach.

For these organizations, ConnectVETS will deliver formal training to understand the talent represented by our military veterans and how best to benefit from this talent. Focusing on relevance to the private sector and each employer, this training is expected to include:

• An overview of the military organization
• Examples of military jobs, training and education programs
• Military value systems and accountabilities
• Profiles and strengths of typical veterans, and the challenges they face upon discharge

ConnectVETS will work with employers to understand the interview skills, assessment skills and onboarding assistance that will help place the best veteran in each job. We will remain close with these employers to understand how many veterans they have hired, how long those veterans have remain employed and how successful each has been.

ConnectVETS is also developing additional resources to both employers and veterans, such as an online job board and resume database.
